Bestiality incident (11 Feb 2024) - censored

Trigger warning: This footage contains images of the sexual abuse and illegal r*pe of a female pig in a Victorian piggery. This video has been censored to obscure details of the act. Please take care and consider your mental wellbeing before watching.

On February 11th 2024, hidden cameras installed by investigators from FTP at a Victorian piggery caught a worker r*ping a female pig (sow) who was confined in a farrowing crate.

Just minutes after others have left the building and the lights have been turned off, the worker is seen approaching the sow and beginning to penetrate her with his hands. He then pulls down his pants, penetrates her with his penis and proceeds to r*pe her.

We did not expect to capture this and reported what we found to authorities as soon as we could. We have made this footage available on our website, alongside other photos and footage of standard, routine cruelty at the same facility. However, unlike footage of these other acts, we have chosen to censor this footage.

Why have we published it?

Because as sickening as it is, we think people deserve to know that this is what happens inside Australian animal farms. While what happened to this pig was the actions of a deeply disturbed individual, it could only happen because of conditions that are inherent to the Australian pig meat industry. It is the inevitable end result in an industry that sexually exploits animals daily through the ‘collection’ of semen from boars and the forced insemination of sows.

This horrific act should never have happened, and we need urgent action from the government to make sure it never happens again.

Why have we censored it?

We have chosen to censor this footage by blurring the face of the perpetrator and blurring the act itself. We have done this for a number of reasons:

  • To protect the dignity of the pig and avoid aiding her further exploitation. This sow has already endured the worst kinds of exploitation and abuse. Sadly, there are people out there who would use the footage we captured of her abuse to exploit her further, watching and sharing this footage as a joke or for sexual gratification. While we believe that this footage should be made public, we have done what we can to avoid contributing to her abuse.
  • We respect the laws we think should exist. Currently, Georgie Purcell is calling for an update on Victorian bestiality laws to make the dissemination and possessing of bestiality content illegal. As the law stands, only the act of capturing bestiality content for sexual pleasure is considered illegal, creating a massive loophole which allows the distribution of animal abuse content. We support these calls for stronger legislation and therefore do not wish to publish content which would be illegal if the law did more to protect animals.
  • To ensure the perpetrator gets a fair trial. Publishing clear images of the perpetrator of this horrible act carries the risk of biasing a jury if this crime goes to trial. We do not wish to interfere with the legal process in a way that may mean that this man is able to commit similar acts in the future.
