Once in the knockbox, cows are stunned using a mechanic bolt gun. Often, this is ineffective and cows are stunned again, sometimes up to five times. Many cows are seen to continue showing signs of consciousness, including blinking and attempting to stand while their throats are slit and while they bleed out.
