In June 2026, Salesian College Sunbury emailed animal protection organisation, Farm Transparency Project (FTP) about six pigs currently being raised in their agricultural
learning area, that they wanted to be killed in late October. It would appear they were trying to contact the notorious Benalla Slaughterhouse but emailed FTP instead. In
2023, Benalla Slaughterhouse was investigated and exposed for horrific animal cruelty.

Please urge Salesian College Sunbury and the College Board to act with kindness and compassion and

1. Surrender the pigs to a sanctuary, or

2. Keep the pigs and raise them for the rest of their natural lives; and

3. Commit to not getting anymore pigs

Pigs are slaughtered by being forced into the gondola of the carbon dioxide gas chamber. As they are being lowered into the gas, the pigs scream and thrash about in pain. The gas interacts with the mucus membranes in the pigs' eyes, nose, throat, and lungs forming carbonic acid, burning them from the inside.

 As they struggle to breathe, the pigs panic and frantically push their heads up through the bars of the gondola, trying to reach the oxygen before eventually suffocating. 

Once unconscious, the pigs are tipped out, shackled by their legs, and their throats are slit.

Carbon dioxide gas chambers inflict a level of suffering that most Australians do not support.
