  • Hundreds of dead cows and calves discovered at a dairy farm with close links to the University of Adelaide.
  • New footage released by Farm Transparency Project reveal evidence of years of on-farm death at Minko North Dairy, which has been used as a training facility by Adelaide University since 2013.
  • The bodies include newborn calves and adult cows, with some showing signs of bullet wounds and slit throats.

New footage taken over the course of a year at Minko North Dairy in Korunye, South Australia shows multiple mass graves containing the bodies of hundreds of cows and calves.

Footage released by Farm Transparency Project shows the dairy farm dumping dead animals who have died or been killed on the farm.

Some cows and calves had been freshly dumped, their bloated bodies barely covered by dirt, while others have decomposed until only their skeletons remain. Some cows and calves show evidence of having been killed by a bolt gun, while others seem to have succumbed to sickness or injury.

Minko North Dairy is one of South Australia's largest dairy farms. With a close connection to the University of Adelaide's Roseworthy Campus, it has been used as a training facility for the University since 2013.

Executive Director of Farm Transparency Project, Chris Delforce, says that the number of bodies discovered on the farm is deeply concerning.

"To see the bodies of these cows and calves dumped like rubbish is devastating. Minko Dairy and the University of Adelaide should be facing serious questions about the conditions experienced by animals in their care."

"The reality is that death is an inevitable part of the dairy industry. From young calves, killed at five days old because they were born male, to mother cows as young as three years, sent to the slaughterhouse when their milk production slows, you can't consume milk while avoiding mass animal death. Minko North has taken this to the next level, filling the fields around their intensive dairy with evidence of the death and suffering they are responsible for."

Minko North sold their milking herd in September 2026 in a herd dispersal sale held at Echuca Saleyards in Victoria. However, the farm remains operational and continues to raise calves and young heifers.
