On 27 November 2025, FTP investigators Chris Delforce and Siena Callander were arrested in their homes for the rescue of chickens who were just weeks from a horrific death. Weeks later, two more Farm Transparency Project investigators, Catriona Marshall and Harley McDonald-Eckersall, were also arrested.
They were charged with offences including theft, burglary and trespass for rescuing eight 'meat' chickens from a factory farm. While the specific farm was never named by FTP, one of the largest chicken slaughtering companies in Australia has claimed it is one of theirs, and estimated the total commercial value of these chickens to be $14.40.
That farm, owned by Pavilion and contracted to Turosi Food Solutions, is one of 6 in the Anakie, Victoria area, each housing up to 400,000 chickens at any time, and together breeding 12 million chickens for slaughter every year.
These arrests are just the latest in a series of attacks against Farm Transparency Project and our work to investigate and expose the reality of how animals are used and exploited inside Australian farms, slaughterhouses and other animal use facilities. Over the past three years, our work has taken you behind the closed doors of these places; where animals cry out for kindness and mercy that, in most cases, will never come. Unless someone steps in and gives them the freedom they deserve.
In 2026 we will continue to fight for the rights of animals to live free from pain and suffering. We will fight for them to be seen, not as a product, but as an individual deserving of freedom and love. This fight will take us from the streets of major cities, right to the High Court of Australia. And we want you to come with us.
Join us in 2026 to take the movement for animal rights to the next level and help it grow to be unstoppable.
Pledge to take action with us in 2026 and become part of a movement fighting for justice for all animals. Because animals are not property!
