Nichols Poultry Pty Ltd is a vertically integrated chicken growing and slaughter operation founded in 1988 by Rob Nichols, based at Sassafras in north-west Tasmania.
The business includes a chicken slaughterhouse, hatchery, feed mill and 91 hectares of farmland. It was acquired by ASX-listed TasFoods Limited in 2016 for A$12.55 million.
At the time of acquisition the operation killed approximately 45,000 birds per week. In March 2026 TasFoods entered voluntary administration following unsuccessful attempts to sell the Nichols Poultry business, with KPMG Australia appointed as administrators.
The future ownership of Nichols Poultry was uncertain as of May 2026.
