Email from DAFF's Jason Ollington to GMC, 14 May 2025
An email from Jason Ollington, the Field Operations Manager at the federal Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF), sent to the Game Meats Company slaughterhouse's manager, Darren Webb. Extracted from an affidavit entered into evidence in the 2024 'Right to Know' trial in the Federal Court of Australia, now public record.
In the email, Jason warns the slaughterhouse manager that Channel 7 news has been asking questions and that there may be a story on the TV news that night. He suggests contacting AMIC for assistance with public relations. He also confirms that the department is not taking the complaint seriously due to daily reports from the DAFF-employed on-plant-veterinarian (OPV), in which no animal welfare incidents are noted.
Despite this shocking display of corruption from the slaughterhouse regulator, it is understood that Jason Ollington remains employed at DAFF.
