Behind Closed Doors photography competition

The inaugural Behind Closed Doors photography competition and fundraiser was organised by Farm Transparency Project in early 2023 with the aim of raising money for their work and providing a platform for professional and amateur photographers alike to share images and stories of animals.

For 8 years, Farm Transparency Project has been revealing the hidden lives of animals used for food, clothing, entertainment and research. Through the documentaries Lucent and Dominion plus dozens of investigations, FTP has worked with activists across Australia, and sometimes the world, to reveal the reality of what happens behind the closed doors of the animal agriculture industries.

The competition allowed photographers from around the world to submit in a range of categories and receive prizes from vegan businesses. The categories were:

Behind Closed Doors was juried by award winning photographer and photo-journalist, Jo-Anne McCarthur who kindly supported the event along with her organisation, We Animals Media.
