Notes: Laboratory animal supplier (nonhuman primates). Yerkes is one of eight National Primate Research Centers funded by the National Center for Research Resources, a division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The centers breed nonhuman primates for laboratories and universities engaged in NIH-sponsored research. The centers also supply nonhuman primate blood samples, organs and biological fluids. The Center maintains two locations: a 25-acre main center on the campus of Emory University and a 117-acre field station in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Together, they house approximately 3,400 monkeys and chimpanzees for research and breeding.
