Cattle slaughterhouse at 12 Dodds Road, Stoters Hill QLD 4860, approximately 6 km from Innisfail and 90 km south of Cairns. Resumed slaughtering in January 2026 after approximately 20 years dormant. Domestic market only.
Animals: Cattle killed for beef. Processing approximately 45 animals per week as of January 2026, with plans to increase to around 60 head per week over 6 to 12 months.
Operated by D.M Cross & K.J Cross (ABN 28 288 485 517), trading as Cross Custom Meats. Altitude Beef brand works with more than 80 producers on the Atherton Tablelands, targeting grass-finished cattle.
History: Originally operated by CMG and then Teys Brothers. Closed March 2006 following Cyclone Larry damage. Equipment auctioned 2011. Recommissioning plan drafted 2016. Acquired by D.M Cross & K.J Cross in 2025 and reopened January 2026.

Atherton small butcher buys local meatworks to supply beef across the country - ABC News

A Far North Queensland butcher is expanding to provide an "innovative" end-to-end supply chain for beef producers and consumers.What started as Doug Cross's small butcher shop seven years ago has since expanded with an on-site boning room and established brand, Altitude Beef, supplying businesses and consumers throughout Queensland and interstate.Mr Cross said purchasing the meatworks at Innisfail in June - about 100 kilometres away from the Atherton shop - marked the next logical step towards securing the brand's future.He said it paved the way for more supply chain control while ensuring the process remained local once the facility...
