Plant and equipment from the mothballed Innisfail meatworks will go under the hammer today.
It comes after Teys Brothers also sold off assets at its Katherine abbatoir last week.
The Innisfail facility closed in 2006 after Cyclone Larry - leaving Townsville as the only remaining meat processing centre in North Queensland.
Alex Stubbs from AgForce says northern cattlemen had always hoped the meatworks would re-open.
"We had a total working plant in Innisfail up until not that long ago and it was ready to work at any stage," Mr Stubbs says.
"I would have liked to see it stayed, I did my best behind the scenes just talking to who I could, it was hard to even get industry's support because it is a very complex business, processing meat and selling it overseas. North Queensland, northern Australia is littered with the history of those who have failed in the past."
