Hidden cameras (Packaging)
Hidden camera footage showing the packaging of pet meat at Goulburn Valley Stock Removers. It is believed that the preservative sodium metabusulphite is used while preparing the meat. Peter Loffel is observed handling the cut up body parts and the preservative without gloves or a mask. Sodium metabusulphite is a hazardous and highly allergenic compound which can cause irritation to the skin and allergic reactions.
Packaging is often done in the sun and meat is sniffed at by workers, likely to detect if it is rotten.
