Aspetta - Thoroughbred broodmare

Aspetta was a thoroughbred mare, born in 2017. She was bred by Fairway thoroughbreds, the breeders behind the champion racehorse Winx. Aspetta was raced until 2021, when she was retired to be used as a broodmare. In 2022, Aspetta carried and foaled Bango Boy and in 2023 she gave birth to an unnamed colt. Her third foal died shortly after his birth in 2024. Online records show that in 2025 Aspetta was sold to Daisy Thoroughbreds. She was serviced by a stallion in November of that year and in September 2026, she gave birth again. The birth was traumatic, tearing out her insides and ending her life. She was likely euthanised by a vet before being sent to Peter Loffel's knackery in Shepparton. Her foal also did not survive.

Horses sent to the knackery after veterinary euthanasia cannot be used for pet meat. They are ‘quartered’ and sent to be rendered. Aspetta’s foal was also discarded as waste.
