2015:
Girgarre Piggery is believed to be a breeder-only facility, with roughly 3200 sows (as of 2008). Activists visited a number of times over a two year period, finding mother pigs confined in farrowing crates surrounded by numerous dead and dying piglets. When trying to stand or lie down, for many sows the cages are so small that their feeding troughs are in the way, and the floors so slippery that they struggle to keep their footing. Like most other pig farms, the farmers cut the piglets' tails at a young age without pain relief.
While the farm previously had sow stalls, it has in recent years made the switch to group housing.
Footage was handed to the Victorian Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI), who inspected the property but found that it was all just standard Australian pig farming, with no breaches of animal welfare legislation. As a result of this inaction, the footage and photographs were anonymously provided to AussiePigs.com in late 2015 for publication.

The founding director of animal protection organisation Farm Transparency Project (FTP), Chris Delforce, has been raided by Victoria Police at his Melbourne home this morning, in relation to footage of animal cruelty captured earlier this year at twenty piggeries in the state's north. Footage from five Victorian piggeries has been released by animal rights organisation Farm Transparency Project, who say that a further 15 will be exposed in the coming weeks. Video taken inside the piggery shows dead and dying piglets, dirty conditions, pigs living in their own waste and sows with large pressure sores, cuts and scratches, evidence of fighting between pigs. Animal rights campaigners have laid dozens of dead piglets at the offices of Victorian Premier, Jacinta Allan, in a protest against the government's refusal to address "urgent" animal welfare issues. Advocacy group Farm Transparency Project (FTP) organised the protest after receiving footage showing shocking, filthy and cruel conditions at twenty Victorian piggeries, filmed covertly by dozens of activists over the weekend.
