Thomas Foods International - Tamworth Abattoir
Record as at 2 June 2026.
The Tamworth abattoir at Phoenix Street, Westdale, near Tamworth, New South Wales, is a sheep and lamb slaughterhouse operated by Thomas Foods International under export establishment number 394.
TFI acquired the facility in 2010 through its purchase of Country Fresh. A $25 million upgrade completed around 2016 lifted capacity to about 11,000 lambs per day, making it one of the largest lamb chains in Australia.
After the 2018 fire at TFI's Murray Bridge slaughterhouse, some displaced lamb killing was shifted to Tamworth. The site is one of TFI's small stock slaughterhouses, which together kill over 160,000 animals per week.
